On May 5 and 6 is your chance to support the important work of the Hugo Kauder Society via The Great Give!
This is a nation-wide fundraising drive supported by local community foundations to benefit local nonprofits. Donors can give $25 or more to the Hugo Kauder Society via the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. The drive is during a 36-hour period, starting on Tuesday, May 5, at 8am, and ending on Wednesday, May 6, at 8pm.
Hugo Kauder was a mid-century Viennese composer, pedagogue, and émigré to America, who defied the atonal trend of his generation with his uniquely harmonic, contrapuntal style. His legacy of over 300 works, many yet to be published, is receiving renewed interest today.
The Hugo Kauder Society hopes to share Kauder's music with the next generation of musicians and listeners. Its annual competition supports emerging young musicians while connecting them with Kauder's work.
