Happy Birthday Hugo Kauder!
The Euclid Quartet performs Hugo Kauder's string quartet # 4
On Hugo Kauder's birthday it is a great pleasure to announce that the @EuclidQuartet returns to the @MusicMountainFestival with Hugo Kauder’s quartet # 4 on Sunday, June 16th 2024. Their memorable performance of Hugo Kauder’s quartet # 2 last summer in Gordon Hall at Music Mountain continued a long tradition: the Gordon String Quartet played Kauder’s quartets # 4 and # 7 in August 1945 while Hugo Kauder was invited as the resident composer and as a representative of a contemporary polyphonic style at @BlackMountainCollege. Luis Vargas, violinist with the Euclid Quartet, says about playing Hugo Kauder that it is "the feeling of weaving in perfect harmony among the four instruments, while keeping a simple and seamless flow that rather than being relentless it seems to walk at different speeds of motion."

Another good news is the release of the album The Lost Generation including Hugo Kauder’s 1. Symphony. This CD from AVIE Records is a recording of the concert at Carnegie Hall and the Fisher Center at Bard in Fall 2022 with Leon Botstein conducting The Orchestra Now.
